Welcome, Opening Remarks & Keynote Session

This session marked the official opening of the EU-VALUES Network International Conference, hosted at BINUS University, and introduced the EU-VALUES Network and its objectives. The programme began with welcoming remarks from key institutional and academic leaders.

Opening remarks were delivered by H.E. Denis Chaibi, European Union Ambassador to Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam; Dr. Rini Setiowati, Vice Rector for Collaboration & Global Engagement at BINUS University; Jacint Jordana, EU-VALUES Network Coordinator and President of the Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals (IBEI); and Tirta Mursitama (BINUS University).

The session continued with a keynote address on the Russia–Ukraine war by Tadeusz Iwański (OSW – Centre for Eastern Studies), offering expert analysis of the conflict and its wider geopolitical implications. The keynote was chaired by Adam Holesch (IBEI).
